I lead AI and agentic AI at Commonwealth Bank. Before that I spent a decade studying how people decide under uncertainty.

I lead a team of AI scientists and developers at Commonwealth Bank, building agentic AI and machine learning from concept to production across wealth and private banking and the customer service network — AI that improves customer service, gives colleagues better tools, and strengthens fraud and risk controls. I have been at the bank since 2017 and leading chapters there since 2022.

Before that I was a cognitive neuroscientist for a decade, at the University of Sydney, RIKEN in Japan and Stanford, studying how people make decisions when the evidence is ambiguous — and how the choices we made a moment ago quietly bias the next one. That work was published inPNAS and the Journal of Neuroscience.

The two halves are the same problem. How much evidence is enough, what a confident answer is worth, and where a system goes wrong under uncertainty are questions I first asked about people and now ask about models.
